Working with babies

We are going to explore how early education and care can build the important foundations for early literacy and suggest how to increase literacy opportunities for young children.

Having an insight into the parents’ and carers’ experiences is enormously helpful for thinking about how best to support parent and carer partnerships initially to create foundations for a long-lasting relationship with families as their children grow through setting. This learning workout reflects instead on the experiences of the parents and carers who are also adjusting to the start of their child’s journey in early education and care.

The 1001 Days Movement is a campaign that works to increase the recognition of just how important the infant years are to our continued development and learning through life.

Self-regulation strategies are promoted throughout a child’s entire educational journey, but it’s important to trace back the roots to where this all begins, to manage and sustain effective emotional management with maximum impact. Just as we wouldn’t expect a child to intuitively know their letters and sounds, it shouldn’t be expected that children have the tools to respond to the ever-changing spectrum of emotions we experience daily.
