This is a simple outdoor activity that encourages children to explore the natural world through colour, observation and creativity. Children can search for different colours in their surroundings, collect natural treasures and use them to create their own designs, supporting curiosity, language development and a growing appreciation of nature.

Teaching children about recycling will support them to develop environmentally friendly habits as they grow. This activity will challenge children to think about reusing and repurposing everyday items, encouraging them to think creatively about how objects can be given a new purpose rather than being thrown away.

Environments that stimulate children’s learning are not just about the space they interact in but relies on the professional conduct of the adults around them to create an engaging place for provocation and thought.

Play-based learning is an essential aspect of early childhood development and a core way to engage children in a satisfying and stimulating environment. But another valuable way to continue to promote this necessity for play-based learning is to seek out even more opportunities to learn about the power of play!

Some children find communicating with people more challenging than others. Children with special educational needs can benefit from additional support to communicate with friends and adults.

To create an environment that encourages this stimulation and engagement, we need to ensure that the provocations of our learning opportunities promote curiosity and active enquiry.
